Import Continuity Models

Continuity models can be imported into Supervisor from several external formats.

The import can be launched from either:

  • a Data Loader component, to automatically match imported models with existing data components, or
  • a specific Data Component (Assay or Domain), to import models directly into that component.

The following import formats are supported:

  • Datamine (*.dm, *.dmx, *.csv)
  • Surpac (*.vgm)
  • Vulcan (*.vrg)
  • Variogram Parameters File (incl GSLIB) (*.csv)
  • Variogram Table (*.csv)
  • Leapfrog (*.lfv, *.xml)
  • Micromine (*.mmvarx)
  • Deswik (*.csv)
  • Minescape (*.gradeabs)

Activity Steps

  1. Right-click the target component in the Data Tree and select Import / Continuity Model from the menu.
  2. Select the continuity model file to import.
  3. Click Open.

The import behaviour depends on the selected parent component:

  • When launched from a Data Loader, Supervisor attempts to automatically match the continuity models found in the file with existing loaded components using the available domain and/or assay information.
  • When launched from a Data Component, all continuity models found in the selected file are displayed and models matching the selected component are automatically selected by default.

If the selected file contains only one valid model matching the current component, Supervisor attempts to import it directly.

Only models matching an existing domain and/or assay component can be imported.

Supported Continuity Model Information

Depending on the source format, the following information can be imported:

  • Nugget effect
  • Structure type
  • Sill values
  • Ranges
  • Rotation angles
  • Inversion flags
  • Variogram directions

Supported structure types include:

  • Nugget
  • Spherical
  • Exponential
  • Gaussian
  • Power
  • Hole Effect
  • Dampened Hole Effect
  • Spheroidal with an alpha parameter which must be equal to 3, 5, 7 or 9

Supervisor supports up to three continuity structures per model. Additional structures found in the imported file are ignored.

A single global rotation is supported for each continuity model. If an imported model defines different rotations for individual structures, only one rotation can be retained and the structure-specific rotations are not preserved.

During the import process, Supervisor validates the continuity model data before creating the components.

Examples of validation issues include:

  • Missing nugget value
  • Unsupported structure type
  • Missing ranges or sill values
  • Unsupported rotation systems
  • More than three structures defined

Some formats may support additional structures or parameters not currently supported in Supervisor. Unsupported information is ignored during import.

Back-transform variograms are also supported.

See Export Continuity Models / Variograms for additional details.

Notes:

  • Imported continuity models are validated before creation.
  • Invalid structures are ignored when possible.
  • Import failures prevent the continuity model component from being created.
  • Some imported formats may contain more information than can currently be represented in Supervisor. Unsupported information is ignored during import.
